Real Estate Private Equity Fund, Operations Director, Portfolio Management

Summary: 

As a Director and senior member of the Portfolio Management team, he/she will oversee a portfolio of real estate investments with a view to improving the performance and increasing the value of the businesses through operating efficiencies and growth.  The Director will work with Portfolio Company Management to develop a strategic plan to advance the shareholder's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability and growth at an acceptable return on capital.  The Director will primarily focus on residential real estate investments on the asset, debt and lien side in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Arizona, California, Nevada as main focus markets and potentially other markets.  The Director will have operational and commercial experience, and knowledge of customer relationship management systems (CRM) implementation for real estate/private equity businesses would be beneficial, and experience implementing said system would be of interest.   This candidate will very much be a “process” person who understands the importance of business development.

The Director will participate in the relationship management with Portfolio Management Company Management and may also serve on Portfolio Management Company board. The Director is expected to gain a deep understanding of the Portfolio investments to which he/she is assigned, and to identify opportunities to improve commercial strategies, management processes, budgeting, accounting, tax and operations strategy. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Develop business strategy, which may include identifying operating partners in target markets and executing accretive acquisitions

·       Lead mini operational/commercial improvement projects at Portfolio investments

·       Lead program of capturing synergies across Portfolio investments

·       Assist in 100 Day Plan initial due diligence projects

·       Review in detail and challenge Portfolio investments annual budgets and business plans

·       Review Portfolio investments monthly report and provide a summary monthly report and action report

·       Oversee and assist in the preparation of routine summary reports to Investment Committee of Portfolio operational and financial performance

·       Flag and manage issues/opportunities  

·       Identify opportunities to improve operational performance or mitigate risks and where appropriate, assist Portfolio Manager implementing such projects           

·       Assess existing Portfolio human resources needs, ability of current management to deliver strategy and succession strategy

·       Perform a risk analysis of Portfolio investment activities and develop mitigation strategies

·       For assigned Portfolio investmetns, ensure all appropriate documents are filed in the respective electronic data room

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·       Ideal, but not required, 7+ years experience in real estate sector

·       5+ years of experience in an operations/general management leadership role for a division or company

·       5+ years experience working as a consultant implementing investment allocations

·       5+ years in implementing and managing CRM systems

·       Experience in strategic planning and execution

·       Skill in examining and re-engineering operations, policies and procedures

·       Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures

·       Ability to crete, edit, review and analyze financial models and valuations using MS Excel

·       Ability to create reports in MS Word and Powerpoint

·       Ability to use and assist in the management of electronic data rooms

·       Ability to review and analyze financial models and valuations

·       Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel

Education:

·       Masters Degree in Business Administration (preferable)

·       BA/BS degree
